Amy Rubin was born and raised in Florida and began dancing at age 3. She grew up dancing competitively and training in tap, clogging, jazz, hip-hop, ballet, and lyrical. She attended the University of Florida, where she held leadership roles in Danza Dance Company (and was voted Miss Danza by her peers) and performed with Stomp the Swamp tap company. After college, she moved to Boston and joined The Boston Tap Company, of which she was a member for 7 years and eventually a Dance Captain. She was cast as a tap dancing Bond Girl in Club Drosselmeyer at the Oberon (2019) and has also performed at DC Tap Fest, BeanTown Tap Festival/Boston Tap Party, RIFF, and the Provincetown Dance Festival. Since 2017, she has been a member of Dianne Walker’s (now Ian Berg’s) Leon Collins repertoire residency and has twice assisted Dianne in teaching Leon Collins’ routines at North Carolina Rhythm Tap Festival. Amy has also assisted Laurie Johnson at Tremaine Dance Conventions since 2016. In 2020, Amy embraced improvisation and choreography. She began training and performed many times in Derick Grant’s online “Improv Lab” showcases and twice had her own choreography performed at his “Choreography Lab” showcases in Manhattan. Amy loves to attend festivals and challenging intensives. Recently, she has completed Derick Grant’s RIFF Live Band Residency (2023 and 2024), Kelly Kaleta’s Boston Tap Party performance residency (2022), and training residencies with Sam Weber (2023) and Jason Janas (2019). One of her proudest accomplishments and greatest challenges has been completing two of Sarah Reich’s Tap Music Projects (2022 and 2023) and receiving a scholarship award in 2022 - both while working full-time as an attorney. Amy also trains, performs, and battles in street dance styles, is an alumna of BeanTown Lockers, and is proud to represent Slaughter House popping crew. Amy is thrilled to be in her first season with Fourth Dimension!
